Salty Fact - Salty Soup

By

Mckenzie Ellis

I've always been a soup fiend. I love to batch prep a big pot of soup on Sundays, and today I'm whipping up this Low Salt Pumpkin Spiced Soup.

Soup is one of the "Salty Six" a list of six popular foods that are likely adding the highest levels of sodium to your diet. Sodium in 1 cup of soup can range from 100mg - 940mg, more than 50% of your daily recommended amount.

Opt for an easy homemade low sodium soup instead, like my Low Salt Butternut Squash Soup that is thick, velvety, smooth and full of flavor! While it looks elegant, this creamy butternut squash soup is delicious as an easy weeknight meal or an elegant starter soup for your holiday party. Top the soup with maple roasted chickpeas for that sweet crunch and a dollop of sour cream.
