Ever since I was little, I remember my mom making a soft-boiled egg with toast almost every morning before she went off to teach her students and I went off to school. It always looked so fancy to me and difficult to make. I didn’t really understand how EASY soft boiled eggs are to make and how much my kids would love them too!
You can find 100 different ways to cook an egg online (literally). I wanted to share my easy and straight forward method to hopefully save you a few extra minutes in your morning!

Instructions
- Fill a saucepan with a few inches of water and bring it to a boil. Once boiling, reduce the water to a rapid simmer and gently add one egg at a time. (I like to use a slotted spoon here, so I don’t burn myself).
- Cook Time: 1 to 2 eggs: 5 minutes (runny yolk) or 7 minutes for barely set yolk 3 to 4 eggs: 6 minutes (runny yolk) or 7 to 7 ½ minutes for barely set yolk
- Remove the eggs from the water with a slotted spoon. Run under cold tap water to cool slightly, 30 to 60 seconds. I pull apart the egg in half and use a spoon to scoop out the yumminess right into a bowl with toast.
